Each episode of Pretty Little Liars is like the word of the unknown. Every time we think we have the puzzle solved, we’re smacked back to reality and forced to turn to Freeform to rewatch a few of the first seasons hoping we could catch a new clue. While each character brings a new dimension to each storyline, it never gets old reliving the brilliance that was PLL.
Today, we’ll take a look at a few of the best moments of Emily Fields. Emily was once considered the weakest link but in time, she grew to be the strongest of the Liars.
Em Almost Kills Her Dad
A labeled Emily the weakest link of the Liars are rightfully so. She had the heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. But with A terrorizing the girls and the town, it was just a matter of time before even the weakest of links snapped. One night, while sleeping, Emily heard a noise. She called out but no one answered. In a panic, she grabbed a pair of scissors from her draw and moved closer to the danger.
When the door opened, Emily lunged the knife down ready to attack. Luckily, her father reacted in time to stop in real danger. But what that did prove was them Emily Fields was tired of playing the victim.
Emily Taking to Her Dad About College
It was not a huge scene in terms of the PLL storyline but Shay Mitchell put on a great performance that night. In a moment of guilt, Emily confessed to her father what the issue was with her in school and why she acted out. It’s hard losing a father and if you’re a fan of the show, you know that Em and her Dad shared a special bond.
Yes, she lied to everyone about everything involving school but she made a mistake. In order for her to make things right, she had to admit it to herself and to those in her circle. That night at the graveyard was her second chance. It felt good to get that weight off her shoulders and in the end, no one blamed her for her actions. It was grief Emily was dealing with.
When Em Told Paige That Alison Stayed The Night
It didn’t matter if Paige caught them together or not. Emily had a decision to make. She could have concocted some lame story but she put the truth out there and let it fall where it may. At that moment, Paige knew she didn’t have a chance. Although Allison still wasn’t decided in terms of her sexuality, Emily was still willing to be there when she decided.
Through the course of Pretty Little Liars, Emily has been through a few relationships. However, what she and Paige shared may have been the longest and yet most fulfilling. Paige came back for Emily even after Emily chose not to stay with her. The love was there but so was her feelings for Allison.
Emily Saves Mona and Aria
With danger always lurking for the Liars, it was no wonder, a hit and run was bound to happen. I mean, they did one themselves. But this cost Emily physical and mental pain. With A trying to rundown Mona, Emily made a daring rescue. But in the end, it cost her much more than just a few days missed from school.
With her shoulder bruised, the gifted swimmer was forced to leave the pool. To say this didn’t have an effect on Emily would be foolish to say. Each of the Liars has their own special gifts and swimming was it for Emily. This was another moment she thought with her heart even if that meant putting herself in harm’s way.
Emily hits Sara Harvey
Fans knew the relationship was coming but with the way PLL has treated their love stories, it was never a matter of if but when Emily and Sara pairing was going to go south. It was hot and heavy but there was something hidden where Sara was concerned. It was just a matter of time before it was revealed.
When the truth was revealed that Sara has been down the Jenna and “A” the whole time, Emily let out years of frustration with one single punch. Most of the girls were not into physical confrontations but for Emily, this was a stepping up point for her character.
Emily Confronts Sydney
Here’s one of the reasons why I’ll always say that Emily is the strongest of the Liars. The majority of her pain has come from relationships and each one has ended pretty much because of A. When it came to Sydney, it was all about Jenna. Emily found out the truth that Sydney was just using her on behalf of Jenna’s wishes.
Well, one day, Syndey tried to tell her side of the story and Emily had heard enough excuses from people by that time. She told Sydney she was taking the coaching position just to make her life a living hell.
Emily Helps Hanna In Pageant
Hanna is in dire need of a scholarship for college. But in order for her to get the money, she must win a local Beauty Pageant. Hanna has the looks but the talent part is where she fears she could lose it. Hanna hires a trainer but after watching Emily dance, the coach tells Hanna that she can’t win but Emily can
A distraught Hanna and Emily talk later that night and Hanna has all but given up on the Pageant and college. Emily has an idea. She tells Hanna that she will take her place in the Pageant and win the money for her.
Emily Saves Alison, Again
Each girl lives in a big house. But with a killer after them, they always seem to be alone at the wrong moments. Why not pair up sometimes to make sure each other is safe? In “Run, Ali, Run” Alison was in her house alone, called her father and told him that she would be staying the night over at Hanna’s. She turned to go upstairs and that’s when A turned the lamp off.
Ali comes back downstairs to a darkened room and A hits her from behind. A struggle ensues and Emily rushes in to save Alison right before A stabs Alison.
Emily Kills Lyndon
Pretty Little Liars is not a show for hugs and bonfires. It’s by far one of the best mystery shows ever to hit Primetime TV. The essence of danger is always lurking and for Emily Fields, however, this one was personal. Talk about a twisted love triangle. Lyndon stalked Maya who dated Emily until she was murdered. Little did everyone know that the new guy to breeze into town was the one responsible for her death.
What threw everyone off was that Lyndon posed as Mya’s cousin. He and Emily fell for each other until she found out the truth. In the lighthouse, Emily earned her stripes by stabbing Lyndon. She saved her own life, plus got revenge for Mya.
Emily Wants To Kill Spencer
Emily gets words that Alison wants to see her. Emily is dropped off at a secret location at a warehouse where she meets up with Alison. They embrace and Emily tells Alison that she can trust her out of all the girls to help keep a secret. Alison agrees then they hear a noise in the background. While Emily turns to look, Alison freaks out and runs.
Emily runs to catch her with tears in her eyes. Emily then turns and sees Spencer and gives her the coldest death stare ever. At that moment, their friendship was out the window as Spencer betrayed her and ran Alison away.
