After months of anticipation, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle finally revealed who Archie’s godparents are. The little boy will have three godparents in total who will all do their best to support him.

Since Prince Harry and Markle’s announcement on January 8th, the prince has been taking each day in stride. The royals held an emergency meeting and the Queen finalized his financial dealings with his grandmother. Even though Meghan Markle has been getting much of the negativity regarding their stepping down, Prince Harry seems to be happy to be along for the ride, embracing his new, commoner life. After a rough start to the New Year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided that it would be best for them to split their time between the United Kingdom and Canada, where they spent their Christmas alone with their son, Archie. Now that Harry has touched down in Canada and rejoined his wife and child, it seems that these three are ready for their more peaceful life together outside of the spotlight.

After all the hullabaloo regarding their future as royals, some happy news has been confirmed regarding who was chosen as godparents for baby Archie. It was eight months ago that Archie Harrison graced our television screens with his arrival, along with the Archie comic jokes. Since the christening that took place in July the couple had decided to stay mum about who they had chosen as godparents. According to royal tradition, the godparents are usually announced close to the date of the christening, however, Prince Harry and Markle bucked with tradition (once again) and decided to keep the names of the godparents private until they felt ready to disclose that information.

Now, The Sunday Times reported that Prince Harry and Prince William’s former nanny, Tiggy Pettifer will be the godmother to their son. While Mark Dyer, who was an officer of honor to Prince Charles was named as one of the godfathers. Both godparents were a constant staple in Harry’s childhood, especially after the death of his mother, Princess Diana, and the new parents hope they will be strong figures in the years ahead for both Harry and his son. The father also was said to have hoped that these two figures would be able to keep Archie rooted in the U.K. after their move to North America. Prince Harry also chose his long-time friend, Charlie van Straubenzee who he attended Ludgrove Prep School with. It had been reported that out of all his childhood friends, van Straubenzee was the only one he had kept in contact with since meeting Duchess Markle.

The high-spirited news comes nearly two weeks after the couple dropped the massive bombshell on the British people and the world. Buckingham Palace had announced that they would no longer receive royal funds and would need to repay the Sovereign Grant. The couple was also told they would not be representing the Queen anymore. Regardless of all of the changes, Harry made sure his son will have the same emotional support from his godparents that he had growing up.
