On Season 3 of Queer Eye, the Fab 5 loaded us in their sleek, black SUV and took us to Kansas City, Missouri to meet a whole new cast of heroes. These beautiful people made us laugh, cry, drink, and cry some more. The “make-betters,” as Jonathan, Antoni, Karamo, Tan, and Bobby like to call them (not makeovers), were, well, nothing short of “shamazing.” These people’s new “lewks” gave us life and the lessons they took away from the Fab 5 were ones that will stay with them forever, right?
So, where are they now? What are they doing? Are they living up to their full potential? And most importantly, are they still doing the French tuck?
Jody Castellucci
Jody was our first hero of the season. She reminded me of Rapunzel, if like, Disney princesses ate their woodland creature-friends. She liked to hunt and wear camouflage and play with the boys, which is super cool, but whenTan got Jody into that stunning black dress, our mouths collectively hit the floor. Everyone loves a renaissance woman and man, oh man, could this lady do it all!
Jody isn’t much for social media updates, but her last post in November 2019 was a picture with Bobby! And can we talk about her hair?! Looks like Jody is maintaining her JVN glow up to a tee!
Joey Greene
Joey, oh, Joey. Joey was the camp counselor who lived in a cabin at the camp where he is employed. Joey looked like he took his job as an extra in O Brother Where Art Thou very seriously. Joey’s transformation was a fan favorite due to the fact that once that very long, unkempt beard was gone, he was pretty dang hot.
Since Queer Eye, Joey seems to have embraced his new found fame and is posting to Instagram almost daily and a lot of his posts are with his son! Karamo can give himself a big pat on the back for helping this father/son team see their relationship’s full potential.
Deborah & Mary Jones
Deborah and Mary, or “Little” and “Shorty” if you please, are the sisters making the best BBQ in Kansas City. And like all of you, I set a price alert on flights to Kansas City after watching these two sisters cook. Karamo and Antoni set out on a mission to get the Jones’ sisters famous BBQ sauce packages and manufactured and now it is available for purchase through the restaurant’s website and Walmarts across the country. Also, the restaurant’s Instagram page has over 100k followers. Safe to say these ladies are doing pretty well post make-better.
Robert Hitchcock
Robert needed some serious Fab 5 help and quickly because when we first met him, he was getting married at the end of the week! The Fab 5 loves a wedding and they were there for this one. Robert had a great sense of humor, but usually at his own expense with a lot of self-deprecating jokes and comments. Enter: Karamo and Bobby, who encouraged Robert to speak kindly to himself, which in turn helped Robert see how great he really is.
Robert’s wedding was stunning and he and his wife Jamie are still happily married with three gorgeous children. Robert doesn’t post a ton to social media, but it appears he’s become the mayor of Fab 5 make-betters. He hangs with a lot of the other heroes from this season and even went to Jones’ BBQ to visit our favorite sisters!
Jess Guilbeaux
Jess’ episode nearly broke the internet. This girl had us all sobbing and overcome with the urge to reach into our TVs and give her a hug, Karamo style. Her story touched so many people and it continues to do so.
Jess has become the most viral hero from this season, and maybe even from all of the seasons. Her Instagram boasts a blue check and 139k followers and she’s using this new platform to spread love and be a voice for the LGBTQ community. Also, her bio reads “a strong, black lesbian woman,” which is what Karamo had her say to herself throughout the episode, and well, now we’re crying all over again.
Rob Elrod
If Jess’ episode broke the internet, Rob’s episode broke all of our hearts. Rob’s wife lost her battle with breast cancer, leaving Rob to raise their two girls on his own. Being a single parent is hard, but being a single parent in mourning, that is almost unimaginable. The Fab 5 really stepped it up for Rob and helped him continue his healing process. They moved Rob into a new house, which he and his daughters seem to be enjoying, and it looks like he’s been keeping up with the Fab 5 routine!
His post recent post, celebrating the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win has him sporting some pretty well-groomed facial hair. JVN is definitely loving that mustache!
Thomas Diggs
Thomas Diggs is a tough guy to track down. His social media presence is very private, and honestly, good for him. He doesn’t need or want the spotlight. He’s living his best life post make-better and he doesn’t require surface level validation from the internet to maintain all of the work he did with the Fab 5.
Judging from his most recent Instagram post, which was in December 2019, Thomas is doing just fine and to quote JVN. we say, “Get it, henny!”
Tony Blanco
Tony, the new dad who got some serious help from the Fab 5, literally days before his wife was due, might be the happiest dad on the internet, or at least he was for a second. After Tony’s episode aired he started an Instagram account posting all things #QueerEye and #DadLife, but the posts have come to a screeching halt most likely due to the fact that, well, he’s a busy dad and doesn’t have time to post hundreds of baby photos to social media, and for that, a round of applause. In his last post, dated September 2019, Tony and his wife had a date night and went to see JVN speak! Tony posted a super cute picture of the three of them, and side note, his wife is adorable!
